Account Deletion

The Simple Truth: Delete the App, Delete Everything

ReadBack is designed so that deleting the app from your device automatically deletes everything associated with your usage. There's no separate "account deletion" process because there are no traditional accounts to delete.

What Happens When You Delete ReadBack

Everything on your device is gone:

  • All your text content
  • All generated audio files
  • All app settings and preferences

This is immediate and complete - there's no recovery process because we don't store any of this data on our servers.

What About Data on Our Servers?

Here's where ReadBack's privacy-first design really shines:

We have almost nothing to delete:

  • ✕
No personal information (we never collected any)
  • ✕
No text content (deleted immediately after processing)
  • ✕
No audio files (they only exist on your device)
  • ✕
No user profiles or accounts (they don't exist)

The only thing that remains:

  • •
An anonymous usage counter tied to your App Store purchase
  • •
This prevents people from repeatedly deleting and reinstalling to get unlimited free usage
  • •
This data cannot be connected back to you personally - it's just a number in our system

Why We Can't Delete the Anonymous Usage Data

Think of it like a crowdfunding platform such as GoFundMe or Kickstarter. Even if a donor deletes their account, the platform can't remove the fact that '$50 was donated toward this campaign' because that would break the core functionality - the campaign total would be wrong. They can delete the donor's personal information (name, email, etc.), but the anonymous contribution record must remain for the system to work.

ReadBack works similarly: we can ensure your personal information is never collected in the first place, but we can't delete the anonymous record that 'X tokens were used from this purchase' because that's essential for preventing abuse and managing the service. The key difference is that we never had your personal information to begin with - so there's nothing personal to delete.

Even if you contact us asking to "delete your data," we have no way to:

  • Identify which anonymous usage counter belongs to you
  • Connect your identity to any data in our system
  • Delete something that isn't tied to you personally

The Bottom Line

For complete data removal from ReadBack:

  1. Delete the app from your device
  2. That's it - you're done!

There's no need to contact us, create deletion requests, or worry about lingering personal data. Your privacy was protected from day one, and deleting the app completes the process.

Questions?

If you have concerns about privacy or data handling, please review our Privacy Policy. If you still have questions, you can contact us at trent@readbackapp.com, though in most cases, simply deleting the app will address your needs completely.

ReadBack's privacy-first design means that your data stays with you. When you're done with the app, you're truly done - no strings attached.
